Louis ran to Emil's open arms. They hugged, then danced, then hugged again. "Yes, Louis," said Emil. "Our cathedral." In the next few months, the seven trees were cut and trimmed, then carefully carted back to the village. By the end of the following summer the seven trees had been transformed into magnificent carved beams that now soared across the heights of the cathedral. Louis and Emil looked on with pleasure and pride.
