For Louis, there was no place like the cathedral. In the late afternoons, he would watch the sun cast golden beams through the high west windows. The angelic voices of the children's choir would give him goosebumpsw. And the air was filled with the fragrance of beeswax candles and incense.

But the cathedral held more for Louis than beauty. Emil was the cathedral's caretaker, and Louis's best friend. When Louis needed advice or support, Emil was always there to listen, and. When Emil needed help with a job, Louis was always a willing and capable hand. When Louis reached his teens, he became Emil's apprentice.
