Standing before him was a forest beyond belief-- towering dark columns, too many to count, each broad enough to hide a horse. Louis walked slowly among the trees. He sat down on a broad flat boulder beside a sparkling stream, and stared at the misty sunbeams slanting in toward the shady forest floor. A soothing chorus of humming insects, singing birds, and splashing water filled his ears. He lay down on the cool rock and looked up at the soaring green ceiling, at the branches stretching from tree to tree. "It's a cathedral of trees..." thought Louis. Then he sat up as quickly as the springing of a trap.
